We decided to move together last summer, so we could save ourselves the trouble of moving from one apartment to the other, every time either of us had to take a shower or wanted to make a long distance phone call. I thought it would bring us closer together. We were fighting about sharing my room or moving into her apartment for such a long time that we just decided to move to a brand new place where we would feel at a neutral space and we wouldnt be arguing about whos territory was better.

Moving with my girlfriend sucks !!!

There are two types of girlfriends: those you take from their parents house, or those who are so independent that you get absorbed in as part of their life. I chose to move in with one of the second type.

Dont take me wrong. She is a fantastic woman. She has it all under control, from how many hairs are allowed on the soap per shower, to the mileage on my car and time to the office. She loves cooking, hates washing, loves grocery shopping, and hates unpacking. Living together is hard sometimes but taking the step of moving in with somebody can be one of the most life-changing decisions in any mans timeline.

I wanted to move in with her because I knew she was responsible, for bills and bank accounts, and shes hardworking and shes great company, but moving in is more than just moving your stuff, and calling a moving company to pick up all your trash and unload it in a new place. Moving with your girlfriend implies changing the living rules. Its not like you have the same autonomy as you did when you lived alone, no. When you live with your girlfriend you have to learn that you are no longer a single organism, but now you have to be prepared for anything that your co-habitation organism wants or objects. For example, if she gets her period and shows signs of pms, you have two choices, run away or become bullet proof, because during those 5-10 days you are exposed to insults, crying, moaning, craving, and even flying objects.

If shes a pet or plant lover, make sure you move into a house. Move to a place with many windows and hopefully a front and backyard. Pets are little property destroyers who cant be put in jail, because your girlfriend will kick you out immediately. Never try to help out watering the plants because if any die, you will know whose fault it is and why.

Anyway as a last but not least recommendation, even if you decide to pack your own things, load them in your own moving truck and move them your self, always hire a mover for your girlfriends stuff. Make sure the moving company offers full service, packing boxes and un packing and tip them if possible generously, your girlfriend will take care of the putting together her stuff back in place.
