Bekins Moving and Storage
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE!!!!
I moved in Sacramento on January 13, 2010. I was quite upset about the total price charged on my move. The total was over twice as much as the original quote of for the 3 hours minimum at $70 per hour. The total time was only about 4 hours, 1 hour over the 3 hours minimum. However the next hour was charge at $80.00 per hour instead of $70.00 as quoted. I was not happy with the time the 2 movers took to load & unload a small amount of furniture. They were due to arrive between 9:00 and 10:00 am. They arrived 20 minutes late at 10:20am, no reason was given.

The salesman told me that the move would be done locally, however I found out they drove from San Jose which was 2 hours away.

The foreman look 20 minutes to fill out the original paper work and during the move both men took personal phone calls on their cell phones. Foreman took 3 personal phone calls, one that took almost 15 minutes to complete doing which time I only had one guy working.

I did all the packing and moved everything I could in my SUV. I only wanted them to move the furniture, Bedroom, Entertainment system, TV’s etc. My goal was to keep this move to 3 hours which was very possible considering the new place was only 15 minutes away in the same city and both were on the first floor with not more than 10 yards from the door to the truck.

They also took an extremely long time arranging and rearranging furniture in the truck. The truck seemed too small for the job. I was told that all packing materials were included and then I was charged $136.75 for packing materials. Then the Foreman started telling me that a mirror would cost $20 extra and a glass on the table will cost $15 more and if they took a large vase it would cost another $25. I told the Foreman not to take any item that he would charge me extra for. This meant that I had several mirrors, table glasses, and vases that I was forced to move myself. Needless to say that I am not happy with the service I received. I felt that once they were there The Foreman objective was to run my bill up as much as he could. I had to keep telling him that I did not want to pay extra to move certain pieces. Also the drive time was listed as 45 minutes and it only took 15 minutes one way which would be only 30 minutes for the double drive time charge. Upon arrival at the new apartment, The Foreman took another 15 minutes to do the final paper work. That is a total of 35 minutes of paper work time that I was charged for. I have never in my life seen so much paper work and required signatures with a 2 man moving team. I think all this signing is to protect the company and confuse the customer. I really felt I was stuck with this price before they would release my furniture.
I complained to the salesperson and the corporate customer service and neither responded.

Guys,

I'm Looking to purchase Entertainment Centers or Wall Units For a new apartment building I'm working at in.
Can you guys give me a good recommendation of where is the best deal on these? I live in Philly and I heard that the most important thing about these Entertainment Centers is the cost of shipping and installation.
Thanks

Suddath Relocation Systems of No California

Avoid this company like the plague. I found their response really good when they want to close the business, but lacking when you were looking for delivery times, etc ...

Forget it if you have any claims. It took me forever to get to management to talk about damages - their customer advocate was non responsive and they are misleading.

When they finally came to the table for our claims - they tried to only give us roughly 40% of the cost to repair the damages.

We are looking into legal action. Ethics is not one of their strong points.

I have used Paul Arpin before and they seemed much better ...
